I’m still working on the documentary and because of a fantastic team we’re really making headway. My editor Sarah Deuel has revolutionized the edit and my animators have been working around the clock to help me finish this project.

You might be wondering what I’ve been doing if I have someone else editing my doc and other people doing the animation. Well for the record, I do a little of both. For example, I work alongside Sarah with her edit so that we know what to animate. Then I create an animatic, like below:

Then my animators help bring the animatic to life. I don’t want to show too much but here’s a quick preview.

This has been a very long and exhausting process but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I just launched an online fundraiser on Indiegogo to help raise money for my film, ONCE AGAIN, which is a short documentary recalling the my own personal struggles with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, told through live action footage, home movies, and animation. The goal is $5,500 in 90 days which is both daunting and very tangible.

Information is it’s own currency! Even if you can’t donate, please send my campaign to others. Beyond just raising money, I want those who need this film most (parents and children with OCD) to know it exists. If you can give even ten bucks, it will help advance my project. I recently presented a showcase of films at the IOCDF national conventions. Many parents agreed that they wish they simply knew a project like this existed.

If you don’t know, online fundraisers like Indiegogo are all about allowing anybody to raise money for any idea. The sites structure allows users to create a page for their funding campaign, set up an account with PayPal, make a list of “perks” for different levels of donation, then create a social media-based publicity effort. Users publicize the projects themselves through Facebook, Twitter and similar platforms. The site levies a 4% fee for successful campaigns, and 9% for campaigns that fail to reach their target amount. Unlike similar sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo disburses the funds immediately. According to the Wall Street Journal, 10% of Indiegogo projects raise their requested amount, while 40% of projects raise at least $500. Indiegogo is also used by already-funded projects to create publicity or find distributors.

Take a moment now to check it out on IndieGoGo and also share it with your friends. All the tools are there. Get perks, make a contribution, or simply follow updates. If enough of us get behind it, we can make ‘Once Again’ happen.

A unique look at the nature of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, based on themes arising from real life interviews. The action takes place over one night where we see a man preparing for bed. However instead of falling asleep he spends the time checking and rechecking lights, doors and clocks, obsessively securing the house for his night’s rest. Stylistically the animation highlights the divide between the character and his attempt to control his increasingly malevolent environment. The film explores the uneasy balance between the man’s desire to control his life and the compulsions that try to possess him.
Everything is going as planned, all films are burnt to the screening disc and will be viewed in good old San Diego on the 29th. First, let me just express my deepest thanks for your contribution to this event. I have already received many messages from people who say they cannot wait to see the films.
You can use the protocol as last time with wetransfer or yourfilelink. Below is the short description of the event that will appear in the program.

The 1st Annual OCD Animation Festival will allow the audience to see the world through the eyes and thoughts of the OCD mindset.
It’s going to be a really exciting event. I have been honored to have helped organize this. I only wish that this festival was around when I was a kid.

Untitled Moon Project will be screening at the 2011 San Antonio Film Festival, Thursday, June 23 (EVENING) 6 pm – 11pm San Antonio Museum of Art – Auditorium. UMP will also be showing on Austin’s PBS Station, KLRU’s ON STORY: PRESENTED BY AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL, June 18, 2011 at 7:30pm: Episode 10.

This is the first time I’ve played in the San Antonio Film Festival and I’m really excited. Sarah, my producer on this project, has a long history of working with the festival back when it was the San Antonio Underground Film Festival . It will be really exciting to take a break from my summer jobs and spend a weekend in San Antonio, watching some movies and “festival relaxing”.

KLRU’s On Story is a new show presented by the Austin Film Festival focuses on the inspiration and creative process at the conception of the filmmaking process. “On Story” will include new interviews and footage from past Austin Film Festival panels and screenings of screenwriters and filmmakers discussing their craft and films. Each episode will pair these conversations with a short film from a Texas filmmaker, which has previously screened at the Austin Film Festival. It’s really honor to have my work shown. Filmmaker, friend and fellow RTF MFA, Miguel Alvarez interviewed me a couple weeks for the show. “On Story” Episode 9

June 18th @ 7:30pm
KLRU-Q broadcast channel 18.3,
Time Warner (channel 20 or 225) or
Grande (channel 284)

It feels good that this film is still getting attention and still gaining an audience.
