Great News! On November 2nd, Once Again is to receive The Excellence Award at the 21st Annual Superfest International Disability Film Festival!!
One of my most powerful motivations for creating this film was to speak to other individuals and families that are going through similar traumas as I once did. The film will be one of many terrific films touching on the subject or disability, all of which will feature both subtitling and audio descriptions for both the seeing and hearing impaired.
If you find yourself in San Francisco on November 2nd, please come check out a variety of wonderful films touching very important subjects matter.
After nearly two years off, I am happy to give my first of three updates on the life and continued success of my short documentary, Once Again as well as some Jump Up classics!
The film recently played at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. Both Once Again and Lemonade Stand screened as part of [b]racket Magazine’s Annual B-list Art Exhibition.
From September 27th through October 2nd, the films were screened alongside the work of many other talented artists. From painters, to sculptors, to performance artists, the film found itself in very good company with an extraordinary turn out. It was the first time my work has screened as an installation in a museum, rather than screening in a festival or online venue. A Special thanks to the Daegu art scene, Jess Hinshaw, and [b]racket Magazine!
Jump Up Films is very thankful for the people at Beyond OCD for their recent mention of “Once Again” in their newsletter. Keep up the great work, gang!! Check out the article, below!
The amazing Matt Stavrowsky has finished work on the official poster for Once Again. An artist, animator, teacher, and former fashion designer, Matt has put his vast skill set to use around the globe. The final piece was hand-painted on plywood with titles applied digitally. Check it out!
There are over five million people in the United States (500,000 of these children) that know the true terror of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. “Once Again” is a short documentary about the truth of Childhood OCD. After nearly 20 years, filmmaker John Spottswood Moore revisits his life as a ten year old with OCD. In the early nineties, OCD was thought to be a behavioral, almost psychotic disorder. Weaving together animation, home movies, and animation, Moore tells the story of years lost to this horrible condition. Through mental torture, hospitalization, and humiliation, “Once Again” shows how John Spottswood Moore eventually won the fight against this disorder to become a champion of his own mind and body.
Winner of a 2013 Barbara Jordan Media Award, Once Again serves as much more than just entertainment. The film utilizes animation techniques to offer a first person illustration of how it actually feels to have OCD. What is an compulsion? Why can’t they just stop? Is it a life sentence of torture? Whether you are a doctor, parent, OCD sufferer, or just curious, Once Again puts you in the driver’s seat of this horrible, life changing condition.
Please donate to this film. Your contributions make it necessary for this story to be told at festivals, conferences, and other educational events. Help bring hopes to parents and OCD sufferers by clicking the donate button on the right of the page. No contribution is too small.
I was awarded the Barbara Jordan Media Award! Last week the Awards ceremony was held at the College Park Center on the campus of UT Arlington on Saturday, April 13, 7:00pm.
On Sunday December 16th my graduate thesis, Once Again, will screen as part of the University of Texas at Austin, Department of Radio-TV-Film’s End of Semester Screenings.
My buddy Tyler asked me to help him and animate his French project. Even though I’m busy with my thesis film, I was happy to have a distraction and something new to work on.
